Holt Memorial Aquatic Centre Project Plan
In 2023, Federal Municipal Council embarked on an ambitious project to plan an upgrade and modernise the Holt Memorial Aquatic Centre. Using inspiration from award winning architects Parrottet and Sons, the designers at Federal Municipal Council set out to create an inclusive and thoughtful community space for all residents. Due for completion in 2026, the projects aims to be the jewel in the Federal Municipal Councils crown.
Holt Memorial Aquatic Centre
Aim
The project scope and initial plan commenced 2024. The project aims to develop a state-of-the-art community infrastructure inspired by award-winning architects Parrottet and Sons who have become the industry benchmark for inclusive infrastructure. The project will include features such as pool ramps and accessible changing rooms to ensuring inclusivity for all community members.
Through the process Federal Municipal Council will explore what grant funding might be available and contribute to the project's infrastructure development.

Concept
A concept design, budget and alternatives were developed for the Elected Members to consider and approve in principal, with further exploration and consultation to follow.

Council agree to progress
At the council meeting the Elected Members agree to progress the project to upgrade the Hold Memorial Aquatic Centre, subject to community consultation and successful grant funding

Community Feedback and Consultation
Council exhibited their initial plans at the Civic centre and sought community feedback through consultation sessions held at the Civic Centre, during the period of February to April. This was to engage the community and gather valuable feedback and ensure the project aligns with the needs and expectations of local residents. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive for the concept designs, and Concept 1 was adopted.

Grant Success
Federal Municipal Council was successful with a grant application to improve accessibility infrastructure with a $6 million grant. This news was ​welcomed during the consultation period, as community members received news that the upgrade would most certainly be approved.

Design Completion
With endorsement from the Elected Members and the Communities positive feedback about the project, the team was able to progress the project. This included updating and finalising the plans for the Hold Memorial Aquatic Centre, incorporating the community suggestions for the project.​

Project Build Timeline
Part Closure of Holt Memorial
Due to the expedient nature of the build, there was a partial closure of the Holt Memorial Aquatic Centre. This included the closure of the main building which is due for demolition. The outdoor pool will remain open for 4 weeks to coincide with the school holidays.

Complete Closure
The Holt Aquatic Centre will be completely closed to the public so that demolition can be completed and the new work commenced

Building Continues
The building of the new and improved Holt Memorial Aquatic Centre will continue through the year and due for completion end of 2025, with an official opening date of mid January 2026,
